If a doctor, nurse or phlebotomist undertakes a pathology test for you or a doctor sends you for an X-ray they may ask you to telephone to the surgery so they can tell you the result and if necessary arrange a follow up. In most cases you can ask the receptionist to give you the result or tell you whether the doctor/nurse considers a follow-up appointment if necessary.

Blood results usually take between 5 and 7 days to arrive so please allow enough time after the test before telephoning the surgery, unless you have been told to ring earlier. X-ray results can sometimes take a bit longer than this so please give at least a week before phoning, again unless you have been told to ring earlier.

It would greatly help us if you telephone after 2.00pm when our reception team have allocated time to deal with test result enquiries.
