Prospect Road Surgery

Picture1.pngWelcome to the website for Prospect Road Surgery where we aim to give you information about the practice, how we work and what services we offer to ensure you receive the best possible care.

We provide general medical services commissioned by North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust (NHS NYY) to approximately 8000 patients.  As well as providing a full range of services required by the NHS we also provide additional and enhanced services including:

  • Minor surgery
  • Maternity services
  • Counselling
  • Primary Care Mental Health
  • Addictive Behaviour Services
  • Chiropody
  • Phlebotomy (blood taking for tests and checks)
  • Cervical Smears
  • Contraception advice and provision
  • Child health surveillance
  • Childhood Immunisations
  • Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccinations
  • Foreign Travel Advice and Vaccinations
  • Blood Pressure Monitoring
  • Management of long term conditions including Coronary Heart Disease, Stroke, Diabetes, Asthma, COPD.
  • Smoking Cessation Advice
  • Cryotherapy
  • Sigmoidoscopies

Opening Hours

The surgery is open:

Monday - 8.00 AM  -  8.30PM

Tuesday to Friday - 8.00 AM  -  6. 30 PM

Emergencies

To contact the doctor in an emergency  phone the usual surgery number (01723) 360178 

If your call is:

  • between 8.00 amand 6.30 pm Monday - Friday then one of the practice doctors will deal with your problem.
  • between 6.30 pm and 8.00 am Monday - Thursday and from 6.30pm on Fridays to 8.00am on Mondays then your call will be automatically transferred to the doctors’ out of hours service and you will be asked for some details of your problem. You will then either:
    • have advice given over the telephone
    • be telephoned by the emergency doctor on call
    • be ask ed to attend an appointment at the primary care centre at the hospital
    • have an emergency ambulance arranged to take you to hospital.
